The Training and Education Centre

Patient + First training and conference facilities are designed to help the candidates stimulate their minds and ideas. People work best when they're relaxed, focused and inspired.  We create the right environment to ensure that they are.  With our expertise and dedication to support them, they can work more productively together.  Our aim is to make their training both successful and memorable.

Quality in training, like quality in any other endeavour, is achieved through a combination of process, knowledge, and extensive experience. The Patient First Training and Development Team are experts in delivering high quality, interactive, training that really delivers to the candidate. All our training sessions have written objectives, sub-objectives and lesson plans, ideal for students that need evidence based training and personal development plans.

Training can impact organisations and individuals in a big way (both positive and negative). We're all running as fast as we can, doing the work that's GOT to get done. Then, in the middle of all that, we're suppose to do training?! (Yeah right, I'd also like to take a Caribbean cruise while we're at it). But training is a vital part of every organization and individual’s makeup. If we are not learning and developing skills through our jobs, we are probably not having as much stimulation as we could. Training (in its best form) keeps us engaged, involved and de-stressed because we know what we need to do and how to do it.

The saying, "You've got to spend money to make money," holds true with business, but when it comes to training, it should be, "You've got to spend money to save money." Here are a ways you will save money:

  • Legislation tells us that the correct amount of people for certain situations should be trained in First Aid (The Health and Safety Executive First Aid Regulations 1981) so don’t fall foul of the law.
  • A person who receives training in one area can share that information with others. So it is a way of educating others in the wrongs and rights of legislation.
  • Investing in staff is a good thing for any organisation, the clients and yourself.
  • If you are an individual that would just like to put something back into the community, a first aid course might be the thing that spurs you on.
  • With a course on Manual Handling the saying “save your back” will literally be true.

I would like to make the radical suggestion that you evaluate your training needs before you check out our training courses. This means you'll need to ask yourself:

  • What are the problems/needs to be addressed through training? Is it really a training need?
  • What skills need to be taught? What do you need people or yourself to be able to do that they can't do now?
  • Which staff need the training? How many can you send?
  • What format do you want for the training? (For example, the training might be group, individual, in-house, out-house).
  • What is your training budget for initial AND on-going training?
  • What is your schedule for training? When will initial training sessions happen, and how will they be reinforced?
